Fire Starter - Sweadish Fire Steel Swedish Fire Steel Is A Ferrocerium-based Fire Starter Originally Developed For The Swedish Ministry Of Defence. It Creates A Shower Of Sparks At Temperatures Of Around 3,000 Degrees Celsius That Can Be Used To Ignite A Campfire With The Correct Materials And Experience. It Can Also Operate In Damp Conditions. The Swedish Firesteel Operates In A Similar Way To Other Ferrocerium Fire Starters. When Scraped, The Firesteel Gives Off Small Metal Shavings Which Then Spontaneously Ignite Because Of Ferrocerium's Pyrophoric Properties. How Does It Work? Take A Small Quantity Of Dry Grass, Wood Shavings, Or Other Flammable Materials And Build Into A Small Pile. While Holding The Shaft Close To The Pile, Draw The Striker Down The Shaft At A Right Angle. This Will Produce Hot Sparks Which Will Light Any Dry Flammable Material. As The Fire Is Established, Build-up The Pile With Slightly Larger Material Until The Fire Is At The Desired Size
